The purpose of this policy is to articulate the School’s commitment to the elimination of sexual harassment. Bal Gurukul Public School regards sexual harassment as a serious violation. The School supports the rights of individuals to be free from sexual harassment while engaged in activities undertaken at the School. As an educational institution and an employer, the School will take all reasonable steps to eliminate sexual harassment of or by staff, students, or other members of the School community.
For this purpose, sexual harassment includes such unwelcome sexually determined behavior (whether directly or by implication) as:
a) Physical contact and advances; b) A demand or request for sexual favors; c) Sexually coloured remarks; d) Showing pornography; e) Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature
This policy aims to:
1. Create a working and learning environment that is free from sexual harassment and where all members of the School community are treated with courtesy, dignity and respect.
2. Promote appropriate standards of conduct at all times.
3. Implement strategies to ensure that all members of the School community know their rights and responsibilities in this area.
4. Encourage the reporting of illicit behavior.
5. Provide an effective complaints procedure based on principles of natural justice.
6. Treat all complaints in a serious, sensitive, fair and timely manner.
7. Guarantee against victimization or reprisal.
8. To create a secure physical and social environment to deter any act of sexual harassment.
9. To promote a social and psychological environment to raise awareness on sexual harassment in its various forms
